The C.O.E. in the Balearic Islands was founded by General Order on 23th August 1969, under the name of COE 101, in being located the Quartering of Regiment Infantery Palma 47, that who depended on. On 1th January 1988, change his name to C.O.E. 7, and passed to depend directly to the General of the Military Zone of the Balearics. It was dissolved in April 1996. Passing his officers to the Special Operations Command.
During its 27 years, the Green Beret has earned a reputation in all actions in which he has taken part. More than 1700 guerrilleros have forged their character in this unit, its extensive program of instruction includes such subjects as life and movement in mountain, topography, the guerrilla operations and counter-guerrilla operations, shot, explosives, transmission, cryptography, photography, combat in water and diving, survival, weapons and first aid. Much of it takes place in the field, outdoor living an average of 120 days a year.
